Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy
Bridget Jones drinks from KLIMCHI glass too. Czech crystal featured in the new instalment of the cult series
The iconic hobnail jug from the Czech brand KLIMCHI has once again appeared on the cinema screen, this time in the latest instalment of the popular Bridget Jones series. The Light Green Jug from the Czech glassmakers of Kamenický Šenov adorns the household of the main character in the long-awaited film Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy.
Czech glass is becoming increasingly sought after by Hollywood film designers. Following the success of the Barbie film the year before last, KLIMCHI products now appear in the household of one of the most beloved film heroines. The hobnail jug in Light Green, which is part of the brand's popular collection, can be seen in several shots in Bridget Jones's kitchen.
"It's fascinating to see how film designers found their way to our glass on their own. We see multiple enquiries and orders from production studios on our e-shop. However, we only learned about our jug's appearance in the Bridget Jones sequel thanks to alerts from our followers on Instagram. It's another proof that Czech glassmaking art holds its irreplaceable place even at the highest levels of world cinema," says the founder and director of the brand, Lukáš Klimčák. He adds that he is also delighted that the creators of the movie interior chose the glass themselves, which proves that the brand has become a well-known name abroad after five years of existence.
Film designers Penny Crawford and Peter Lee paid extraordinary attention to the interiors in the film. "We spent hours looking for authentic items that would perfectly capture the personalities of the main characters," Crawford told Livingetc. They came across the selected jug through a shop representing KLIMCHI in Britain. It was discovered by production team member Tom Rea, who was recommended KLIMCHI glass by colleagues. Thus, the light green hobnail jug by KLIMCHI naturally became part of a home that combines the characteristic features of both Bridget and Darcy.
